Abstract

The objective of this paper is to throw light on the current practices in the printing industry which leads to pollution, the ways and means to effectively combat this by implementing pollution prevention (P2) strategies and techniques. The paper provides an overview of the current practices and technologies prevalent in the printing industry, various technologies, equipments and operating practices that are available to the printing industry with environmental advantages, the concept of P2, methods for P2 and application of an integrated preventive environmental strategy to processes and products to minimize resource use, quantity of waste generated, and content of environmentally harmful substances.
