Retreatment of a failed root canal often requires complete removal of the root canal filling.However with overextended root catheguttnal filling there are high chances of guttapercha remaining in the periapical tissue upon removal of guttapercha from the canal .In such cases the line of treatment is almost always surgical method .In this case guttapercha was removed by conventional method using chemical guttapercha solvents of xylene and hedstrome files by modifying the method of removal.
