Abstract

This paper intends to present the application of intuitive and reliable features of MATLAB for the performance evaluation of lamp - luminaire combination. The original concept of a small and handy mathematical tool has evolved to become a powerful environment for advanced lighting applications. Coefficient of utilization, polar curves and direct glare evaluation are the important factors for analyzing the efficiency of a lighting system. MATLAB graphical user interface as well as plotting/3D visualization capability made this attempt more powerful and easier.
