Abstract
In this paper the effect of soil structure interaction on seismic response of pier-pile foundation systems of a multi-span elevated roadway has been presented. Past experiences and recent research indicates that soil structure interaction plays a very important role on seismic response of bridge structures. When the elevated roadway is a continuous bridge, the fixed piers attract more seismic forces than the free piers. The bridge pier-pile foundation system has been modeled and the frequency and time period and seismic forces have been estimated.Further, a portion of an elevated roadway of 102m length, which is a three span continuous bridge, has been analyzed to find the seismic response and conclusions are drawn
