Abstract
The Information and Communication Technology has helped libraries to give modern library services to the user community. Libraries are finding ways by which they can collect, store and disseminate information among users. They are taking interest in building institutional repositories where they can store the research output of their faculty and students. In this paper the concept of institutional repository, various Open Source and Commercial Software available for creation of institutional repositories are discussed. Eprints ®Manipal University digital repository is explained in detail. Some suggestions are also given for the improvement of institutional repository services with reference to the Manipal University Digital Repository.
