Abstract

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M hydrochloric acid using 2-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylidene) hydrzinecarbothiamide (TMBHC) has been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The inhibition efficiency increases with an increase in concentration of TMBHC and increases with an increase in temperature. Polarization curves indicated that TMBHC acts as a mixed type inhibitor. The adsorption of TMBHC on the mild steel was found to take place through chemisorption obeying Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm. The surface morphology of the mild steel specimens in the presence and the absence of the inhibitor were studied by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
