Abstract

The t()fai~lte,,"ati~n coefficient for 661.6 keV gal1;'na ~ys was lI;ea.~-;;redfor: I eight elements AI. CII, Ge, Mo, Cd, Sn, Ta, and Ph by the IT(m smission method' i using a good geometrical set-Ill' with a Graded shielding arrangement employing I'Na/{TI) scintillation .~pectrome(c~. A U cs source of 25 ~"i~'ro-~'uriestrength is' , 'used as a source oJ 661.6 kel: photons. A Nal(TI) scintillation spectrometer I coupled to 0 I K MCr1 is used to detect the attenuated photons. From the measured, I (piP) values. total interaction cross-sections are calculated for the vorious : I elements. Photoelectric cross-sections are calculated by subtracting the sum of the I theoretical am-•. s-section values for lite cases of coherent and incoherent ti scattering.
