Abstract
The paper presents a brief study on the contrast enhancement methods for dark images. The objective of contrast enhancement is to increase the visibility of details that may be obscured by deficient global and local lightness. The goal of color enhancement can be either to increase the colorfulness, or to increase the saturation. Various techniques have been used to enhance the contrast of dark images. In this paper, some morphological transformations are used to detect background in images characterized by poor lighting.
