Abstract

Gonstruction process involves varied dynamic tasks and activities being carried out by various personnel involved with the organization. These activities and resources are managed by a construction manager. The construction manager being the single focal point of all activities is responsible for the efficient completion of all the tasks established. A successful execution of the formed tasks depends on the competency and the knowledge of the manager. A construction manager can be of varied background in terms of culture and geography. This necessitates the need to acquire any additional skills and knowledge the manager is falling short of, for implementing a hassle and risk free project. Presently the construction manager is focused on a certain type of skills and an expert in that field. But there are various other skills and responsibilities that supplicate for attention. A construction manager needs to employ the resources at disposal in an efficient manner, and this is possible when the manager is competent enough to take necessary decisions and c6ITectivemeasurt~s: The·~;t<"\il'"lsand k110~redgl which a manager is bereft of, is causing a few problems in the successful utilizatiOl of the resources and completion of the set goals. Objective of this study is tidentify and categorise thevarious competent skills that the manager is "devoid of for shouldering the risks and responsibilities oftheproject in a safe and efficien manner. The results so obtained if incorporated by a manager will help bring ou the paramount outcome in terms of cost and quality.
