Abstract

Analysis of different Morphometric and Geomorphic characteristi to understand the different hydrologic processe,s taking place in a wate study, some of these watershed characteristics are evaluated by usingthe techniques and approaches. Kollur watershed of Coastal Karnataka, India for this purpose. LISS-III imageries of IRS-1CjlD series and SurveyOf topographical maps (Toposheets) are used for the purpose. Lineamentmap area, updated with IRS imagery is used in this analysis. Longitudinal profll and analysed for some of the rivers. It has been observed that many rivers basin are structurally controlled which is evident from the break-inlongitudinal sections. The cross sections of the rivers are typically 'V's Many areas in region are highly sloping with elevation of more than 1200m. sections plotted and slope maps derived from the DEM exhibit characteristics in initial regions i.e., near the foothills. The computed morphometric 'parameters and map derived geomorphic features of the indicate that characteristics like slope, soil type and land use patterns influencing parameters towards runoff process.
