Abstract

Background: The Aim of study was to assess the prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency anemia in chronic hemodialysis patients. Methods and materials: We performed a retrospective study of prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency anemia in patients undergoing hemodialysis who attended our hospital. Data abstracted from patients’ Medical Records. Hemoglobin, Iron, Ferritin, TIBC, Transferrin were used to study prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency anemia. Result and conclusion: 99 patients undergoing hemodialysis were included in our study. Of them 70 male and 29 female between the age group 40-60 years. Our study showed prevalence of anemia to be 85.85% and iron deficiency in 29.51%.
