Abstract

The effects of electron beam irradiation on optical and morphological properties of germaniumtelluride (gete)thin films, prepared by thermal evaporation technique,were investigated.The surface morphol- ogy,optical bandgap,refractive index and extinctionco efficient of these films were analyzed before and after exposur to electron beam irradiation. Optical analysis by absorption spectroscopy showed that irradiation modifies the optical bandgap.Morphologicalstudiesthroughatomicforcemicroscopy(AFM) analysis showed anapparently uniform growth of as deposited getegrains.Irradiation at lower dose resulted in increase insurface roughness and athigherdoseitdecreasedagain
