Abstract

Healthcare is the fastest growing sector of the world’s economy. Healthcare workers face a wide range of hazards on the job, including needle stick injuries, latex allergy, violence, and stress.Although it is possible prevent or reduce healthcare workers’ exposure to these hazards, healthcare workers continue to experience injuries and illnesses in the workplace. Cases of nonfatal occupational injury and illness among healthcare workers are highest in any industrial sector. This paper examines the different types of occupational health hazards among healthcare workers and focuses on welfare provisions offered through various labour legislations.
