Ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) induced clumping of platelets and leucocytes are recognized entities. But agglutination of lymphoid cells, both benign and malignant, in peripheral blood samples has been reported only sporadically. Such clustering presents the hematopathologist with an unusual dilemma in the diagnosis of these disorders. A case of follicular lymphoma presented with clumping of abnormal lymphoid cells in the smear made from EDTA anticoagulated peripheral blood; with a resultant spurious leucopenia. The agglutination was time dependent but not temperature based; ruling out the possibility of an antibody. This case is a rare addition to a handful of cases described so far in literature.
