Mobile phones are a great tool developed in the field of information technology. The fast access to information along with the ability to communicate globally is what makes it a boon to us but in some areas like classrooms, exam hall, petrol pumps or in an aircraft it has become a menace. That is the reason why it is needed to implement strict measures and to follow the rules regarding the use of mobile phones in such areas. In this paper a system is proposed which can be used to detect mobile phone usage in mobile restricted areas. The system functionality is exposited using Lab VIEW, a software developed by National Instruments .With the knowledge of Lab View virtual instruments can be created by the use of distinct pre-programmed blocks, inputs can be manipulated and the corresponding outputs can be observed. The use of this software (Lab View) in formulation of the problem statement is discussed.
