Abstract

Forensic dentistry is a relatively new and underdeveloped specialty of forensic significance. However the importance of this branch can be of immense help to any investigation involving identification of unknown bodily remains or in the living, viz. accused of sexual assault cases, age estimation, etc. The true potential of forensic dentistry has to be realized for an effective utilization of evidence gathered during investigation. In the recent past many attempts have been made in India to apply the knowledge of forensic dentistry to help the investigations and this review tries to focus on the importance and effectives of forensic dentistry.
