Introduction: Restorative phase during dental imp lant therapy frequently presents challenges to the clinician. The treatment planning done at the time of implant placement may sometimes have to be modified due to difficult ies that arise at the time of restoration. Case report: In this report, a case of space deficiency for restoration of an implant placed in the region of the upper left second premolar, due to mesial migration of the first molar and a distal tipping of the first premolar was treated orthodontically. An Intra oral distalising appliance, the Jones Jig was used. The space was achieved by two months. An implant supported supra-structure and the restoration on easy abutments of Noble biocare was cemented. The case was reviewed periodically. Discussion: The various options to manage the case were discussed, but since the implant was well integrated, orthodontic space creation was considered as the most suitable and conservative option to proceed with in this case. The Jones Jig appliance was employed to regain the space as this was more precise and faster than a removable orthodontic appliance with finger springs and also eliminated the uncertainty of patient compliance. Conclusion: Inadequate follow-up after implant placement resulted in a situation where the placement of the supra structure was difficult owing to the lack of sufficient space. This situation however was resolved by an interdisciplinary approach involving space regaining by orthodontic means with minimum patient compliance required.
