Abstract

Information literacy is a set of abilities required to access, evaluate, organise and use information from variety of sources. Information literacy programs should be conducted at health science libraries and should aim at developing technological and literature search skills required by the health science library users to access evaluate, organise and use the information from various online journals, e-books and online databases. The KMC Health Sciences Library provides access to many digital resources (Science Direct, ProQuest Medical Library, MD Consult, CINAHL Plus with full text, Scopus etc.) Realizing, the importance of information literacy, the KMC Health science library, Manipal University, Manipal took initiative in information literacy activities by bringing out brochures having details of digital resources subscribed by the library, conducting online training sessions on how to conduct literature search using digital resources for the faculty, students, research scholars and library staff and also on using the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the library.
