Information and communication technology has revolutionized the way the information is being generated and disseminated. Users of the academic libraries are facing many challenges brought by the electronic information environment. The needs of users and their expectations in digital environment are different from that of pre digital era. Library users who were dependent on print resources for much of their information needs and literature search in the past are now found dependent more on electronic resources for the same. Academic library users need awareness, guidance and training in making the best use of electronic resources available in their field. Good computer infrastructure with high speed internet facility, Wi-Fi, IP authenticated access, remote access facilities and a well developed library webpage with single search interface will encourage the students, research scholars and faculty members to make best use of electronic resources subscribed by the library in the campus and off the campus. Library professionals in academic libraries need to understand the availability of various types of electronic resources and the demands of Internet-savvy users.
