Abstract

The main aim of the survey is to determine the information literacy among the staff members of Health Sciences Library, Kasturba Medical College (KMC),Manipal University, Manipal. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted. Questionnaires were sent to 42 library staff members. The study has identified the various information literacy of staff members i.e. level of computer literacy, resource literacy, web site literacy, tool literacy etc. After the investigation, the study suggests some important points for the consideration. Major recommendations include -the development library staffs’ information literacy and information retrieval skills as it is most essential in the web environment. The study understands the need to make a deliberate effort to encourage library staff members to develop their information literacy skills. Implementation of suggestions of the study will definitely help the staff members to develop their information literacy skills and perform better in giving information service to the users in the KMC Health Sciences Library, Manipal University, Manipal.
