Abstract

The 10GigabitEthernet Media Access Control (10GE MAC) core is designed for easy integration with proprietary custom logic. It features a POS-L3 like interface for the datapath and a Wishbone compliant interface for management. The core was intentionally designed with a limited feature set for a small gate footprint. Here we are verifying the 10 GE MAC Ethernet using assertions. The only way to address the increased complexity is to supplement traditional functional verification methods by combining assertions, simulation, and formal techniques in a process called assertion-based verification (ABV). Smaller Gigabit Ethernet networks can feed into a 10-Gigabit Ethernet network.
