Abstract

HL7 messaging standard was designed to facilitate high volume to medical data to be shared across many applications in a reliable fashion. HL7 v2.x message structure is complex, flat file and delimited. HL7 v3 structure is currently evolving and is designed to overcome many of the significant limitations of HL7 v2. Many applications are currently deployed with HL7 v2 and there is a need for these applications to interoperate with applications implemented with HL7 v3. Inherently, HL7 v3 is not backward compatible with HL7 v2, we are developing HL7 message parsing software to convert these two incompatible message formats to enable interoperability.
