Abstract
Integral windup problem and its accommodation in the field of process control, especially for the PID controllershas been under discussion for nearly about five decades(Since 1960) with limited structures and modifications in it. In this paper two control methodologies are analyzed mainly focusing on the control effort reduction under various uncertainties of a process. Also as a case study the Internal Model Control (IMC) and Ms based Two Degrees of Freedom (2DOF) PID controllers were designed and implemented for a shell and tube heat exchanger using MATLAB® in the lab environment
