Abstract

As an unconventional and comprehensive measure of economic performance of companies, the concept of Economic Value Added (EVA) has gained prominent significance in and outside the corporate board rooms. The EVA provides a clear indication about the wealth creation capability of management decisions, giving thrust to the capital tructure of the company. Every company must understand the reason to exist is value creation. Companies across the globe have embraced this as an essential wealth metric. The emphasis has now shifted from profit creation to value creation in a sustained manner. The present paper explores the EVA of five cement companies in India on a five year span of time.
