Abstract

In this paper, the effects and the optimization of machining parameters on cutting force in the Ball burnishing of Titanium alloy has been investigated. In Ball burnishing, a machining parameter, such as Feed, spindle speed and Depth of cut were chosen. The burnishing force was measured to verify the process. An L20 orthogonal array was chosen for the design of experiments (MINITAB-15). The variation of burnishing force with machining parameters was mathematically modeled by using response surface methodology. Finally, experimentation has been carried out to identify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The presented model is also verified by a set of verification tests.
