Abstract

Sieve of Eratosthenes is a mathematical model to generate the prime numbers. To improve the speed of generating prime numbers and hence the performance, parallel approach technique can be used in parallel computing systems. Main aim of this paper is to suggest hybrid model to achieve greater speedup in sieve of Eratosthenes. This deals with ability to tie up different processors together into a group and also free a processor from its work of sieving if it has completed its part for which it was responsible, to exploit massive parallelism. This paper proposes how the hybrid model can work to contribute towards speedup in parallel computing. Space complexity is also taken into consideration since the space used is expected to be minimal.
