Abstract

The subject of power quality is very broad by nature and one of the major difficulties that we face in power quality is the problem of harmonics. This paper is an attempt at explaining the different kinds of power quality issues and the types of harmonics and its effects. The paper draws its conclusions from the experiments conducted to determine the effect of linear and nonlinear loads on the power system and the effect of harmonics thus injected, on the energy meter. It also analyses the different type of harmonics and their significance to the system.
