Abstract

High performance and light weight structures have stimulated for development of Bi-directional Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BD CFRP) composite for application in a variety of industries such as aircraft, spacecraft, automobile, marine, sports equipment etc. In the present study, the hand lay-up process, followed by the compression moulding technique, is used for fabricating BD CFRP composite laminates. The experimentally determined mechanical property of BD CFRP composite is validated by using Finite Element Method (FEM). The investigation shows that the experimental and the FEM validated results of mechanical properties are in good agreement
