Abstract

As the call for enhanced collaboration among healthcare professionals continues to rise, there is a need for students to acquire the necessary knowledge & skills for a collaborative practice in their preregistration education. Individuals from different professions learn together in InterProfessional Education (IPE). IPE had started developing about 30 years before and in India it is still in infancy. The aim of IPE is to provide students and practitioners an opportunity to learn and develop attributes and skills required to work in an effective collaborative manner. Working together, learning with from and about each other, developing mutual respect and enhancing practice within profession are some of the characteristics of IPE. IPE provides a balanced milieu for students to share their views emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary team approach and increases the critiquing and reflecting skills in students.
