Abstract
: The pressure drop of two phase flow of air-Newtonian/non-Newtonian fluids through helical coil was studied experimentally. Experiments were conducted with four helix angles ranges from 2.80 to 13.30 and the curvature ratio varies from 0.11 to 0.36. Present study focused on the effect of helix angle on two phase air-Newtonian/non-Newtonian fluids pressure drop. For single phase flow this effect is significant in moderate Dean’s number of laminar region while insignificant in low generalized Dean’s number range and turbulent region for Newtonian fluids. The two phase flow parameters were successfully correlated with Lockhart-Martinelli parameters for different helical angles.
