Abstract

In the present study, commercially available ellipsoidal shaped urea briquettes were subjected to release in silty clay loam soil under different moisture contents and at isothermal condition. Since the released urea is subjected to simultaneous adsorption and diffusion, a semi infinite mathematical model for urea diffusion in the soil is developed that comprises of the experimentally determined adsorption factor, diffusivity in the soil and other soil parameters such as soil volumetric expansion factor and saturation water content. Results obtained from the experiments for the unreleased urea agreed well with the theoretical model predictions.
