Abstract

Urea briquettes are extensively used in agricultural fields so as to minimize the loss of Nitrogen occurring by different mechanisms. Experimentally measured urea concentrations, developed by the dissolving briquettes and subsequently diffusing urea in the saturated wet loam soil, were utilized for correlating with the experimentally measured undissolved or the unreleased urea briquette. Released or the dissolved urea present in the wet soil was estimated by numerically integrating the soil urea concentrations by the spherical as well as by the ellipsoidal approximations using a, b and c axes. Better correlation was observed with spherical approximation than with ellipsoidal approximations for the briquette shrinkage.
