Abstract

It is generally observed that in tropical areas the performance of Thermosiphon flat plate collectors (TFPC) deteriorates within five to twelve years of their installation due to factors related to manufacturing, operating conditions, lack of maintenance etc. Problem due to scaling is significant as it is based on quality of water used. Whereas the remaining factors are system dependent and could be improved. In this paper the effect of scaling on temperature of water in the storage tank is evaluated based on the performance TFPC.
