Abstract
Rhinoviruses are traditionally considered in the etiology of minor acute respiratory tract infections. But in immunocompromised individuals or those with a preexisting pulmonary illness, rhinoviruses can cause severe lower respiratory tract infections. However fatal bronchopneumonia associated with rhinovirus in a previously healthy infant is relatively rare.We report a healthy female infant who presented with fatal rhinoviral bronchopneumonia. This case also illustrates a changing trend in the virulence of a benign virus.
