Abstract
Electronic publishing, which refers to a type of publishing that, does not include printed books or journals or any other material. Instead it takes the format of works published online, a compact disk, emailed or providing a file format compatible with handheld electronic readers. The digital revolution has changed the traditional processes of many knowledge-intensive activities, in particular publishing or scholarly communication processes and it is offering alternatives to people who are sharing information and those who are conducting the various processes related to publishing. Scientific information is increasingly being made available in electronic form on World Wide Web. The use of e-publishing has enhanced the accessibility of information and made knowledge generation and dissemination very easy. It has provided a whole new range of opportunities to improve the scientific information chain and availability of free information dissemination is one of the most important. This paper tries to highlight the future of publishing incorporating the benefits of electronic publishing over the conventional medium of information exchange. The limitations of electronic publishing are also given in this paper.
