Abstract
Knowledge and its management have gained importance in the recent years.. Education is a knowledge intensive activity. Universities and other higher education Institutions are recognized to be in the knowledge business. There is a need to explore various issues regarding knowledge creation, acquisition and learning, dissemination and transfer, storage and maintenance and finally application and exploitation. People’s competencies and their knowledge have to be utilized effectively to prevent their effect on the flexibility and responsiveness of an Institution. In this context, this paper tries to achieve this through the identification of the best practices with regard to KM in engineering Institutions. Based on this, suggestions are made in order to improve upon these identified best practices and rigorously pursue these in order to effectively implement KM and there by enhance the quality of the technical education.
