This paper presents an overall view of the energy consumption areas, picks out the most energy consuming fields and provides strategies for energy conservation in the specified area. Buildings, as they are designed and used today, contribute to serious environmental problems because of excessive consumption of energy and other natural resources. However, buildings can be designed to meet the occupant’s need for thermal and visual comfort at reduced levels of energy and resources consumption. Energy resource efficiency in new constructions can be affected by adopting an integrated approach to building design. Different standards cover different regions or climatic conditions and different types of buildings, such as residential or simple buildings, commercial buildings and more complicated high-rise buildings. With the implementation of the standards for the construction along with the achievement of the energy conservation it also reduces the harmful impact on the environment. There it comes into picture the green buildings which are more energy efficient at the same time less negative impact on the environment
