Abstract

An efficient method for the synthesis6-amino-4-aryl-pyrimidinone-5-carbonitrile is described. This involves threecomponent Biginelli-type condensation of aldehyde, malononitrile, and urea in the presence of catalytic amount of t- BuOK. The reactions proceeded efficiently at 90◦C in ethanol medium to afford the desired products in good yields. Products were confirmed by IR, NMR and mass spectral analysis
