Abstract
Component failures and system performance degradation in solar water heaters due to scaling are common in areas where hard water is used. Scaling tendency and its effect on various key parameters like instantaneous efficiency, overall heat loss coefficient, mass flow rate and heat transfer rate are discussed. Changes in constants of H-W-B equation for the different scale thickness are brought out.
