Security of parked vehicles is becoming a prime concern these days. To alleviate the problem of theft amongst personal automobile owners, high security vehicles etc. and to track their positions at unknown locations, a cost effective, robust, reliable, and a real-time embedded system is required. In this paper a simple and cost effective vehicle tracking system is discussed which uses the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technologies and a smartphone application for tracking of any movable asset. Using smart phone application the user can track the stolen vehicle with a click of a button
