Abstract
Recently industrial buildings make use of cold formed steel because of its light weight and load bearing behavior. For any steel frame connections, gusset plate and angles are most convenient way to connect beam-column. One of the earliest ways of connecting Cold Form Steel sections is by using self drilling screws. In order to study the behaviour of beam-column connectors, this paper presents a numerical studies carried on connections of a cantilever by lipped channel sections using five models with 3mm gusset plate thickness and placing beam 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10mm away from the column. Failure modes are classified and load-displacement curves, stiffness of joints are compared. Bearing failure in section around the connection and buckling of the gusset plate are modes of failure observed
