Growing at its own space, tourism was never looked upon as a potential business. Uttrakhand called Land of the god, has some of the holiest Hindu shrines. The state is known for its popular hill stations, Mussoorie, Kausani Nainital, Bhimtal, Dhanaulti, Lansdowne, Almora, and Ranikhet. Not only well known for its pilgrim destinations, this state has always been a home for mountaineering, hiking and rock climbing in India. Rural tourism was at no time given any significance when it came to tourism, although past few decades, tourism gained some consideration. Being a recent sprout of tourism, rural tourism has developed up to be a prospective business in its own space. Since rural tourism brings people of different cultures together, which creates a broader outlook on life, it also has scope to generate employment. It also broadens the horizon for the development of the society and the economy too.The study was conducted through a questionnaire mediated to the respondents through electronic media. Out of a total of 200 responses received, 79% of the respondents are willing to experience rural tourism. When asked, whether rural tourism in Mussoorie could be a good area for promotion, a total of 69.5% of the respondents positively agreed. The price bracket the tourists are willing to pay for a week‘s tour in the hills of Mussoorie, a total of 38.5% of the respondents chose a range between (Rs. 7000-10000). Thus it can be inferred from the results that there is probable scope for rural tourism in the Hills of Mussoorie.
