Abstract
Neurological and Psychological disorders are affecting large number of people worldwide disturbing their personality, behavior and day to day routine. Neurological disorders occur due to abnormalities in the central and the peripheral nervous system whereas damage or improper functioning of the brain causes psychological disorders. Early and non-invasive detection of these disorders can be achieved using electroencephalograms (EEG). The visual interpretation of information present in the EEG signals are subjective and prone to inter and intra observer variability. Hence in order to avoid variable predictions Computer-aided diagnostic tools can be used for analysis and interpretation of EEG signals. These CAD tools contain following techniques to generate the desired results: signal (data) acquisition, feature extraction and classification. This survey paper focuses the discussion on various CAD techniques developed for the detection of different neurological and psychological disorders such as Epilepsy, Alcoholism and Autism
