Abstract
This project presents the design and development of a PC based leakage detection system which allows the pipelines to be monitored remotely from any location. The system described here allows remote data acquisition from flowmeters. The system uses the Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) platform for detecting the leak in pipelines and communicating to the field operators. This data can be used for real-time evaluation of the flow conditions as well as data logging for later analysis. Since this is a configurable system, so test voltage signals are acquired by using the NI DAQ board. Commercially available flowmeters can be used depending on the suitability and cost effectiveness of the project. A user-friendly graphical user interface is developed by using LabVIEW to display warnings when there are leaks.
