Abstract
Age should not diminish an individual's access to care. With the changing social expectation and increasing life span, poor oral health can have a negative impact on one's quality of life. Geriatric dentistry is the delivery of dental care to older adults involving the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems associated with normal aging and age-related diseases as part of an interdisciplinary team with other health care professionals. Dental caries is one of the most chronic oral infectious diseases which are the main cause for loss of teeth. This paper reviews the etiology, risk factors, prevention and restorative management of dental caries.
