Abstract

The study on deflection behaviour of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) slab resting on the soil is presented in this paper. The SCC slab of dimensions 1000 mm × 777.78 mm × 55.55 mm, resting on soil and centrally loaded was analysed using ANSYS a finite element package and the results of which is validated experimentally. The experiment was conducted on SCC slab in the laboratory by loading the specimens centrally with hydraulic jack arrangement and measuring the deflection for every gradual increment of loads till the failure of specimen. Tests such as compression test, flexural test, split tensile test and modulus of elasticity test were also conducted in order to obtain the basic properties of SCC. From the investigation, it is observed that the results of the finite element analysis were in harmony with experimental results with R2 value of 0.9563. Further it is also noticed that with increase in slab thickness and modulus of subgrade reaction the deflection of slab decreases
