Abstract

The presentpal?er aims to study the effect of Polypropylene Fiber (PF) on the durability of N07 Aggregate Concrete (NAC), replacing aggregates completely by corporating ',fly ash and. minimal water for hydration, Method: The chemical durability characteristics suthas wa'ter absorption, sorptivity ~nd resistance to , ,C'. ~ j .. , ' acid attack are tested for NACwith PF in 0.2,0.4, 0.6 anlO.8 percentaglil of volumlil rlilplacement with fly ash a'nd lcomparedwith control NAC.The reason .for Using'PFi~ to'lmprovettle t.ensile strength of NAC. In the, previous rS.tudYc.onducted. on NAC.ste.el .fibers were used, W.hiCh,.s..e.t.tled dOw. ndu~ to n. igh re.lative.d..en.sity. Findings: The. I, test .results on water absorption show that PF with 0:4.,percentage of volume replacement with fly ash offers r better resistance. ~ven though the water absorption for C?thervolume fractions do not vary ignificantlyat the age of 28 days. Thisis due to the pores which will get subsequently filled;by'seconda ry C-S-Hgel.atlater agesleaaing to less absorption. The test results f()r sorptiYity.and resistance to acid attack reYlilal'that PF'with 0.6 plilrcentage of volume replacement \1iithfly ash offers be~~resjstance compared to other v()IU~e fr,actions. As pOlzolonic reactJon ofJly ash is directly related to permeabllity;iconsiderable imperviousness may develop at later ages. The results on resistance to acid attack for NACwitlf~F dbibws:considerableloss in strepgth.'l:hiscannotbe justified 'at , "ill ......, ." ;, this stage as only visual inspection is done;' but thepknetration~f acid is not';'1'easured.
