Abstract

India’s recent progress in Space Based Navigation can be accounted to its decision to create a satellite constellation for regional coverage using only Indian Satellites. The name of the Constellation is IRNSS which stands for Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System. It is intended to have an independent, reliable and available satellite constellation to achieve self dependency for navigational accuracy. In this paper, we are using IRNSS model, i.e. the proposed constellation’s parameters to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed constellation for Military Navigation. Keeping in mind various forces which might lead to error in satellite positioning and continuous forces which might lead to change in orbital parameters, we have developed software exclusively to analyze error propagation for IRNSS constellation. This Tool can further be developed into a generic tool using which any constellation could be analyzed. This tool automatically creates a data set over which, orbital parameters are varied continuously and overshoot of each objective is contained and presented in the form of a graph. This tool is still a Beta version tool and could be developed into a fully functional analysis tool for Satellite Constellation Error Propagation Analysis
