This paper deals with the study of column supported cooling tower of 122m high above ground level. The cooling tower has been analyzed for wind loads using SAP2000 software. The wind loads on the cooling tower have been calculated in the form of pressure by using the circumferentially distributed design wind pressure coefficients as given in IS:11504-1985 code along with the design wind pressures at different levels as per IS:875 (Part 3)- 1987 code. The analysis has been carried out for three different conditions 1.Fixed base, 2. Annular raft foundation connected to soil, 3. Annular pile cap connected to circular piles. The result of the analysis includes Displacements, stresses and forces in columns. It’s been found that there is reduction in column forces and lateral displacements in tower shell due to pile foundation.
