Abstract
The behavior of the RC chimneys due to wind loading has become critical due to the increase in the height of the chimney. A 3D analytical study on SSI (soil structure interaction) had been carried out using SAP 2000 software. The response of the 275m chimney due to wind load on different types of foundation and different soil has been investigated and presented in this paper. The reduction in deflection at the top of the chimney by increasing the length of piles in pile foundation has been investigated. The deflection at the top of the chimney for different foundations and different soils has been investigated.
